About this tool
The UnblockPDF Convert from PDF tool exports PDF documents into editable formats including Microsoft Word (DOCX), high-quality JPEG images, and PNG images. The conversion is handled on the server side to deliver accurate text extraction, layout reconstruction, and image rendering that exceeds what browser-based processing can achieve. When converting to Word format, the tool analyzes the PDF's text content, paragraph structure, tables, images, headers, footers, and page layout to reconstruct a fully editable DOCX document. The resulting file can be opened and modified in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, or any other word processor that supports the DOCX format. Text formatting including fonts, sizes, colors, bold, italic, and underline is preserved as accurately as possible. Tables are reconstructed with their original column and row structure. Image conversion renders each PDF page as a high-resolution raster image in either JPEG or PNG format. JPEG output is optimized for photographs and general-purpose use with adjustable quality settings. PNG output preserves full quality with lossless compression, making it ideal for documents containing sharp text, diagrams, or graphics where clarity is essential. Multi-page PDFs produce one image per page, all of which can be downloaded as individual files or as a ZIP archive. The tool handles standard PDF documents as well as those with complex layouts including multi-column text, embedded vector graphics, and mixed content. However, for scanned PDFs that contain only raster images without embedded text, the conversion to Word will produce image-based content rather than editable text. In such cases, it is recommended to run the OCR tool first to extract the text layer before converting. Common use cases include converting contracts or reports back to editable format for revisions, extracting individual pages as images for presentations or web content, creating editable versions of received PDF forms, and preparing document content for translation workflows. The converted output can be downloaded directly or further processed with other tools. The tool supports files up to 50 MB for anonymous users and 100 MB for registered accounts.

Tips for best results
- For scanned PDFs without embedded text, run the OCR tool first to extract text before converting to Word format.
- Choose PNG over JPEG when the document contains sharp text or diagrams that require lossless image quality.
- After converting to Word, review the formatting carefully and adjust any tables or layouts that shifted during conversion.
- Use the Split tool to extract only the specific pages you need before converting, which speeds up the conversion process.
Good to know
Scanned PDFs without embedded text layers will not produce editable text in Word output. Complex multi-column layouts may require manual formatting adjustments.
